Tech EDGE: Mobile Learning in the Classroom Podcasts
Podcasts Review: After reviewing all of the podcasts on "Mobile Learning in the Classroom youtube page that can be found here... https://www.youtube.com/user/TechEdge01/videos It is clear to understand that these podcasts are a great tool in order to make the lives of our students easier. Within each podcast, they discuss different apps that can be useful to that given topic, and there are dozens of different topics/podcasts. Each one of these podcasts deals with useful apps that can make a subject easier. They go over every topic such as social studies, science, math, physical education, physics, reading, social media, and so much more. These apps ultimately make learning easier and more fun for our students. Here below are some videos and apps I thought were really cool and will defiantly be incorporated into my future classroom!
EPISODE 62: Fake News and Urban Legends Podcast.
I chose this podcast because as a future social studeis teacher, politics plays a big role in my class. Facts and information is a key opponatn to many of my civic lessons. In todays day and age, "facts" are thrown around all the time and we as consumers are expected to beleive them. In this podcast they discuss how students are constatnly bombarded with information via the internet, and it is tough to decide what information is actually correct. This is where the app FactCheck comes in handy! This is an app where students can get on to make sure the things they are reading on the internet is true. They can type in "facts" they have heard and it will tell them if its true or not. This app will be great in my classroom because when I have my students write papers, they can make sure the stuff they find on the internet is true by asking FactCheck. However, the cons to this app is that it mostly deals with politics. In the end though, it is a great way to learn the truth.

EPISODE 14: Summer Reading
The next podcast I really enjoyed was the podcast about summer reading. In this podcast, they discussed the importance of summer reading and how kids do much better in school when they continue to push their brains and educate themselves in the summer. This is where the app Google Play comes in handy. This app is great because of its availability of FREE books. That is the greatest thing about this app. The app is free and books are free. This could be a great tool to use in my class too offer my future students an opportunity to read a book about a topic in class so when they get to my class they will be better prepared. There are significant studies that show that students who read in the summer do better in school, so it is important for us as teacher to encourage summer reading and this is a great way to do so. |

EPISODE 23: POKEMON GO
This podcast is all about getting our students up and moving! Pokemon Go, as we all know, was an app that blew up the internet not to long ago. People of ALL ages were consumed by this game. This app is an interactive app that gets people outdoors and moving. This app has you customize your own personal avatar and uses GPS to track your location. In this app, there are pokemon characters all around you. You have to go to certain locations in your neighborhood/town to retrieve these pokemon. Once you get pokemons you can battle each other. This is a great app if you want to get your students up and moving in a fun, interactive way. This would be great for a P.E type class. The pro's to this app is that it takes place outdoors and makes kids exercise. The downfalls however is that it can be dangerous having kids roam around outside, for there are pokemon creatures all of the place, sometimes in places you dont want kids going by themselves. In the end though, I think this is a great app to motivate kids to go outside and have fun.
